Thailand Tourism Industry to Benefit from Google Street View

Travel industry in Thailand can rejoice as Google Street View (GSV) has been launched in the country. With the GSV, visitors can explore the country more easily, while travel firms can promote their business that related to the features of the destination.

The technology embedded in Google Earth and Google Map is very helpful to provide street-level views of a landmark or location. In South East Asia, Thailand is the second country that provides the service after Singapore. The initial cities available in the technology are Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai.

Suraphon Svetasreni, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) governor said it was a step ahead for the country to be featured in Google Street View. He said every county in the region and across the world is doing their best to improve the tourism industry, so it becomes the reason why Thailand has to grab the chance.
He said GSV give new opportunities for travelers who are searching for something unique and new. In the country, there are numerous different activities and places that can be publicized through the technology.

People who plan to visit the country can use the technology to find out more about the destinations and plan itineraries without surveying the places beforehand. The tourism industry is expected can gain benefit from the implantation of the technology.

Ariya Banomyong of Google Thailand said internet is used by everyone to plan their journey. “It is a good advantage that they are able to see the destinations that they are about to visit in the first place,” Ariya said.
Tourism business can embed the GSV on their sites to give opportunities to the potential customers to have the first glance before traveling to some place in Thailand.

Suraphon said by using GSV, people can find the best value hotels in Bangkok, the most worth to visit natural attractions in Phuket and the most exotic historical sites in Chiang Mai.
